Previously had the Nikon 18-70 and was fully satisfied. The 16-85 has me a little less because of the extra focal length and more irritated because of the VR. And already paid for the shift. The promised gain 4-5 stops, I have all spells despite not quite done, but three in any case. Maybe I’m trembling slightly as some others. Maybe yes even me. On the picture there is nothing to grumble, absolutely top! The processing also absolutely top! Only the hard and the current zoom ring slightly high weight given to some cause for criticism. If there is a slightly larger / heavier camera than a D 40 on it, you should ever look for a well-padded camera around. The NIKON cloth belt begins at length to scrub in, just with less clothing, hence only four stars. But one gets used to turn the zoom ring and is certainly still time. I’m probably still my usual 18-70 because gings easier, but it also clatter something.
