[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Wow!

From reviewer

I have a VR 70-300 today and get right on my D700 screwed. Since I knew that the image stabilizer lens that has two modes, in contrast to my 24-120 VR, and that one of them only a partial function, I thought it would be good, “Active” mode ( “active “Now is a nice word and sounds in any case better than” normal “…). I wondered then, of course, that the image stabilizer is not as great works. Like me the instructions but then taught, is “active” part of the function, while “normal” the picture is stable.

Then I made a sheet of 300mm and photographed me is almost the first heart in the pants slipped. So milky and blurred … uuuu?????h. But then I realized that at 300mm each pixel has a relatively small angle to dissolve, and that it might not be such a good idea was, through my window pane UNTRIMMED to photograph … :-)

So windows up, again photographed, top sharp!

Some tests focus on deviations were initially using Meterstab also not promising. Back Focus 5cm … oh jeh. After I then quarter hour had played around, even the AF fine adjustment of the extreme D700 had changed, but then returned to zero was fitted to the Focus suddenly exactly, and also whether the AF from infinity or from the Nahgrenze loslief. I can not say I understand, because bottom line, I’ve changed nothing. My guesses:

1) the lens was delivered by mail and had a temperature slightly above zero degrees; possible that I did so immediately after unpacking operated outside its specification have (cold motors / actuators, closer camps), maybe it was somewhere barely visible mist ?

2) perhaps had the brand new stock arriving only a little bit? Sounds strange, but who knows …

In any case, then my further tests extremely well. The lens has to test images at 300mm very easy pincushion, a little less than the 24-120 VR at 120mm. Surprisingly, I found that at the short end at 70mm NO apparent distortion occurs. Chromatic aberration, or color bleeding on the edge you can see, but only at magnifications above 100% clear, and only when a test image with white lines on black background. In “real” motives should be the color bleeding hardly notice unless you have eagle eyes. It has already been repeated by some people pointed out that only the current technology (> 100% magnification on the PC) is absolutely regular laymen allows lens to detect errors!

The lens is approximately 700g also very easy for its focal length range, which is more likely to shake badly, but for less critical inhibitions sure the lens is even more to use. I had before even considering buying the Sigma 150-500 to take, but about two pounds in one lens for my taste is already hard on the border of self-punishment, YMMV.

The image stabilizer is especially useful when a tele like this is remarkable when you consider how bad the picture for a long focal length without VR can tremble.

I wish to highlight even further the low price in relation to the outstanding performance to justify 5 stars. Who needs high precision (and also with the naked eye can see, or, in practical operation can meet), which will probably be a pro lens like the 70-200,2.8 access. For depth you need in any event no open aperture 2.8, unless you’d like ants optional. Maybe 2.8 will help a bit even when auto focus, who knows.

Now I have but a small fly in the ointment: the close focus of 1.5 m hurt something. Perhaps I would indeed low distortion at 70mm like to use for head portraits. Does not stop. But the Canon 500D Nahlinse is indeed a good buy, to a tele in a macro to convert. You need only a suitable adapter ring from 77mm to 67mm lens.

But overall I’m after my first tests, I also have taught that the greatest error image sits behind the camera with the 70-300 on my D700 themselves fully satisfied and do not feel its potential to have given away. If still horse feet occur, are published here.

Addendum: the positive imaging performance unbelassen (the experiment with Canon Nahlinse was also very good), but I find it easy unangenehn that the lens when extended to 300mm hisses luftpumpenm??ig something (which is probably more often occurs in telephoto zoom), and somehow quite hohl sounds like an empty Coladose. Is not really bad, but I think there is content but the relationship with the selling price on. Just so no one in my review of disappointment falls prey …

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Sharp and slow

Recently I bought my first telephoto lens for my new (ish) Nikon D70, Nikkor lenses only confidence (literally can not afford not of good quality).

I tried a few times, architecture and portrait photography mostly.
As a “rookie” to photography, I thought it would be for my first telephoto lens to be within a reasonable budget, which is what I referred to the Haber-Guard had a Knallatevi around.
The goal is sehr well built and solid, heavy nuevolatively, but I doubt I would feel too much of a weight loss between lenses, a couple of grams eh? Until now, the sharpness of images produced when a tripod (without VR (Vibration Reduction) you’ll never in a position to a goal of 300 mm x 1.4 by hand without blurring the image, so I have horrible technique) .
The main interessatiquando I wahrscheinlichdies for the first time, the way was long, loud AF is often directly to the APPROACH a second on several occasions, even with a well-defined edge, which often focus needs to be done with manual focus, then click on the AF and leave it short, which is often the time to do it, but I see someone who should be knocking Athletics Odet photography?

In general, for the price, one or objectivity, but if you do not have time for MF, I recommend that you have a little more expensive lens. Good luck people.

Aperture 4.5 + at 70 (each lens has its strengths at 2 Apertures Dimmer)
+ Minimal vignetting at the margin (fotogafiert who already have a white wall for displaying the vignetting?)
+ 75 to 300 razor-sharp images even when light conditions wiedrigen
+ Universal lens (no lens shift, and thus no threat to the dust-sensitive sensors and low-pass filter)
+ Portrait photography with excellent Kontorhaus Figure (70 -100 ideal)
+ Landscape photos in color or in class 300)
+ Animal photography awards, thanks to the great distance you can use
+ Ideal for D200 from Nikon

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Good middle class

From Meister (Germany)

I can fully speaker to vote, what are handling and processing. Up to 200mm, it is absolutely top, also makes the performance a bit, but is still fully everyday. Recommendable, I think this lens for people, which the 18-200 in the telecommunications sector is poor, the 2.8 / 70-200 and 80-400 is too expensive and too difficult or are an ideal complement to their standard search. Unfortunately, Nikon also collects here (like the 18-200 and 24-120), a princely award for the image stabilizer, because the know that it works well and the photographers are ready to take advantage of a “stabilized” lens in the deep pocket to grasp.

Two things I must still get rid of:-bildstabilisierten lenses with a tendency to longer exposure times than usual, but then that leads to motion may blur the scanned object. The VR compensates only the restless hand movement by the photographer or the photographer, but not the movement as abzulichtenden the person! -before you turn off the camera, the lens should be VR off, otherwise rattle the item may be loose around. Wishes now have fun with it.

[Tamron 18-270] Why not a good goal?

By Jean Photofloue

I say this to people like me, do not take head to succeed in their photos. I am what is called a level amateur photographer (I think) means knowing still use a reflex.Le mine is a low-end (to what I read in trade journals) since it is the Nikon D60. I have to buy the famous goal Tamron 18-270. I admit that I was worried before you can try, and after reading the forums criticism about this from people who I thought know a lot about photography in general. But what I decided to buy this objective is that these people have criticized this goal without having tried (bizzare). I’ve tried and I can tell you that Tamron has strong pace in the competition. The development plays its role in all situations and stability of the lens does its job ?galement.Pour people who want to travel (light) without sea of three kilograms of purpose, you can buy eyes closed. Of course I understand very well that this is not material for professional photographers, but for the amateur that I am, the quality of this objective, but its price, I give it 5 stars. Let me just add a word about AMAZON, it’s serious and prompt delivery.

[Tamron 18-270] Very good compromise

From Regina K?rolyi

Actually I already knew very well what I wanted: a light strong telephoto lens, not too heavy because I usually would use without a tripod – so please also image stabilization – I had to make it to me, that is, a price about three medium, it should already be close to 300 mm and of course please also provide good images.

And because of my field, forest and meadow Safaris then not only wanted a focal length, it had a decent zoom lens to be.

In short, as I turned and turned, “my” lens does not exist, it had to compromise her – just the Tamron. ‘m Not a professional.

Strong light, it is not necessarily, but in my experience makes it well with Aperture 6.3 at 270 mm and overcast skies perfectly good recordings. The weight bothers me not one bit, not even the difficulties: So far as the part of the driveway can be as well-something to be resistance, so it does not by itself “slipping”.

The wide-field advantage, I hardly can not judge him. The images in the middle, I think, expressed that it is an act Superzoom, great, and even at 270 mm, I have a very beautiful animal and plant photos. Above all, I come so get as close to wild birds that have really good shots that are possible.

With my EOS 50D, I have little notes of color bleeding, even in the outer area of telecommunications. The distortion I think that’s not serious. The reviewers who complained about minor Kontraste complain, I must legally, but as a non-professional can do with this degree and still live well if necessary to carry out imaging.

The stabilizer is effective and useful, the beautiful Bokeh, the lens is quite handy in total. Unlike Canon is the lens hood already included – great!

This lens is a bit of the “eierlegende Wollmilchsau” for aspiring amateur photographers, the one single lens for various applications like: Landscape and the like, as well as almost all sizes of animals, plants, and portraits. For any single application of the optimum product, but a really good compromise!

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Excellent Telezoom

From ruessler “ruessler”

I use this lens on my Nikon D40 and am very happy with it. The lens is a good investment for anyone with a large focal length range to cover.

My impressions:

Imaging performance – absolutely top. Crisp sharp images, ideal for animal shots. There is nothing to grumble. Even at open aperture, the images are very good.

Stabilizer – the VR works very well. One senses in the “vibrate” the lens when it is active, but it does not matter. A tripod is usually superfluous. It can be easily Exposure times of 1 / 125, and more on hold 300mm.

Autofocus – quite fast, albeit not the fastest in the AF-S lenses (ultrasonic motor). The 18-70mm is faster. But for such a lens with long focal length ok.

Processing – although somewhat solid, and the bayonet connector is made of metal, but otherwise plastic, plastic, plastic … because I would have wanted something more solid. Certainly, at such a stick would have too much metal the weight is further increased (the lens is quite heavy), but sometimes the appearance of plastic rather cheap. Had with a lens for half the price maybe ok, but for here, na ja. Also, the aperture is scattered somewhat cheap, feels like a biscuit. The grip of the zoom ring is ok.

Conclusion:
For a super telephoto lens shots. Sure, there are stronger light lenses, but the cost like three times or more of the 5 stars here … I can not because of the processing, but otherwise it is a top product.

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Class resolution – sharpness pure.

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Class resolution – sharpness pure.

From ghoff

I work with a D300 now and build my lens collection. From the history I still have the 18-200 and the 50 / 1.8. What with the 70-300 I have received is simply top. Immediately compare images in low light conditions recorded. The 70-300 provides amazing. So I just wanted the photos, high resolution (comparable to the 50mm – and wants to read what a zoom), clean images with good contrast and excellent color reproduction over the entire zoom range even at open aperture (according to test reports, the lens on Vollformatsensor at the edge and at open aperture is not as good and therefore has “only 5 stars” instead of “Excellent” received – this does not affect me because I use the DX format in the D300 and have more hits since the verdict “Excellent” too).

In addition, the lens for Nikon, despite its very reasonable price even equivalent processed, no rattles, nothing moves, dust and splash protection. Measure I could not, but my feeling tells me that the VR still works somewhat better than the 18-200. With 300mm and 1/40sek. hot shots from the hand at open aperture – but what is – or? The 18-200 is unfortunately now dead for me, this image I will not renounce. Sorry, but it annoys me when at 100% magnification in the telephoto range everything is blurry, as with many lenses and also the 18-200. This is the sharpness of the lower part OK, but it sings from the resolution of 80mm from the right at 18-200. It is also different, see 70-300.

As previous speakers have said, I confirm. The only weakness I must admit: From 250mm telephoto in the candlelight of Autofouks needs a little time sometimes – but OK, so I can live (I can even use the Einstelllicht – but what the D300 is almost still in the dark without a light sharp relief !) The 70-300mm is already the top right and affordable lens for me.

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Nikon AF-S 70-300 VR Review

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] Nikon AF-S 70-300 VR Review

Hello dear readers. Photography has been a long time to my great hobbies. So far, I have a standard lens, the Sigma 18 – 125 mm photographed. But as time passed, this lens is no longer sufficient, especially when the camera object is too far away. A telephoto lens was needed and my choice fell on the lens of the Nikon brand, with the name “AF-S Nikkor 70-300 mm VR G 1:4,5-5,6″, which I in the photo retail for 649, – bought did. The VR in the name stands for “Vibration Reduction”, is an image stabilizer.

Delivery

1 Nikon 70-300 mm lens
1 Lens Bag
2 Lens cap (front and rear)
1 hood

Look

The lens consists mostly of plastic, it is 850g, despite its still quite easy. The one or the other surely now says that the weight is high, but if you look to identify what focal length the lens cover, it is no longer so much. The ring to set the desired focal length is gummed and milled. So it can be optimally rotate and move. On the side are three switches, which are the image stabilization. The top one is, whether one “manual” or “Automatic” focused. The middle switch

the image stabilizer A. The lower setting to switch, whether you are at a fixed point is located, or from a mobile, if obtained from a traveling car to photograph. The two options are “normal” for the fixed point and “Active” for the mobile position.
In the retracted state, the Nikon lens measures 17.1 cm. In the extended state, it is already 22.0 cm proud! If then the lens hood on, the lens is extended again by 6.5 cm. DS is very nice as her.
The whole process is very stable and robust.
In practice

I use Nikon lens, I like my Sigma lens on my Nikon D50. The lens shift is very simple and easy to manage. The locking mechanism on the camera button, the old lens off, the new up and locking it again. Even the lens snaps on and stuck on. If it is not properly seated, the photography is not possible, but such a thing should not happen.
When shooting you notice quickly that the Nikon 70-300mm lens is a giant. The Zoom is simply sensational and it is incredibly close to large objects picking. If the lens is fully extended, it is quite difficult to keep everything quiet. Also, small Wackler immediately visible as blurred images. Here one needs a bit of practice. I do not know how many pictures I initially did, which were slightly blurred. But with time, I had to trick out and have good results.
The focus is very fast and it is a tripping shortly after the aiming of the object possible. The trigger is an audible click can be heard.

The integrated optical image stabilizer is a clear advantage of the lens. If this is switched on, light from the lens Wackler automatically compensated. That is to focus also evident as a slight buzz in the lens can be heard. This is the image stabilizer, which seeks to establish a loose free image possible. An ingenious invention, which are very good results. Whether it now from a fixed position or from a moving car. Both work excellent. The image stabilizer works very reliably and I was not disappointed yet! The only disadvantage of switched-VR is that the battery power of the camera quickly exhausted as the image stabilizer on the camera, battery operated. But since you do not always switched knipst image stabilizer is not significant. And if the battery makes it out limply, the halt of the spare battery to use ;-)
The colors of the image are first class and absolutely natural. There is no color and the contrast in the photos comes across very well. Let’s do it! What also impressed me is the excellent sharpness of images. The leaves in both upper and lower focal length range somewhat, but still can be the lens with great shots. Also, the distortion is only present in the upper part, but my opinion is negligible.

What you still be added to the lens should buy, is a UV filter. This makes one for filtering of UV radiation and on the other hand, it is a protection for the lens. Where once the lens is scratched, it is very annoying and expensive repairs with a connected, but if the filter is a scratch abbekommt times, is not that significant. This is already beginning at approximately 10, – . So, a purchaser who pays. When buying make sure that the correct diameter is 67 mm.

Price

I voted for the lens at the beginning of the year 649, – paid. That’s not whole lot of money, which is in my opinion, but still worthwhile. Meanwhile, the price of the lens has fallen significantly and it is already on the Internet for around 450, – to buy. In stores is priced at less than 500, – .

Conclusion

I’m from the Nikon 70-300 mm lens with image stabilizer absolutely thrilled! The lens is excellent and provides processing for first-class recordings, even if it requires some practice to get the 300mm without image stabilizer can keep quiet. Until then, very reliable but the image stabilizer to help make verwacklungsfreie images. The price is quite high, but this purchase worth it in my opinion entirely. Who much photographed objects and would like to zoom in very close, the lens is with this very good advice. I can only recommend in any case and forgive also 5 stars.

Thank you for your attention

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] A versatile tele zoom, ideal

[Nikon AF-S 70-300mm ED-IF VR] A versatile tele zoom, ideal for travelers

E ‘un tele zoom belonging, under the Nikon catalog, to a class of its own: much more valuable in the previous 70-300 G without stabilizer, certainly, but not as much, less than high-end products, such as 70-200 stable, to which however has a weight and a smaller footprint.
My experience is slightly more than the annual me was appreciated for its versatility, the speed and smoothness dell’autofocus, and effectiveness of the stabilizer used in two different ways, depending on whether you follow a person in detention motion or otherwise problematic in light conditions, or that we shall move a vehicle. When it is not necessary, however, it is good to disable it, because you gain something in sharpness (and limited consumption of the battery).

To give an idea of the stabilizer, on favorable terms (subject property) you can shoot in DX 300 mm (equivalent to 450 mm) to 1 / 30 of a second. Perfection is not guaranteed, but if you have the firm hand rather the result, in those conditions, it will be surprising.
Very neutral color rendition, according to Nikon tradition. Up to 200mm the sharpness is considerably more than you lose some ‘. A 300 mm, however, behaves better with the SLR FX (D700, D3, D3X).

Supplied in a plastic hood that I always want mounted.
The ratio quality – price is excellent.
